ABC Precast & Ready Mix Ltd. prides itself on being proactive when it comes to managing the impact our business has on our surrounding environment. We follow the Ministry of Environment’s (MOE) Code of Practice for the Concrete and Concrete Products Industry under provisions as set out by the Environmental Management Act (EMA) and the Waste Discharge Regulations (WDR).
Dust control, silo emission, waste concrete management, process water and establishment run off are all managed at ABC Precast & Ready Mix Ltd. on a regular basis. Process water in our ponds are tested on a regularly as well for pH, suspended solids and total extractable hydrocarbons. The samples are tested by an approved third party laboratory and then recorded and reviewed by an independent environmental consultant for feedback and changes to our environmental management plan.
Environmental stewardship is important at ABC. All our Ready Mix Trucks are equipped with the “EnviroChute” chute wash system, and we have dedicated slump racks and a truck wash down area where only recycled water is used. Soon, we will be using recycled water in our batch plant as well. We have also installed a dust collector that minimizes cement powder emissions and recycles reclaimed powder into our silos
